Note: In the following list of works by Jónas contained in this Web site, italics are used to indicate English titles coined by the translator in the absence of an authentic Icelandic title by Jónas himself. This procedure is not followed in the main body of the text, where information of this kind can be inferred from the notes on manuscript and first publication.

Icelandic titles are cited in parentheses. Poems lacking titles are referred to by first line. In the case of two of the prose pieces, "Gathering Highland Moss" and "The Queen Goes Visiting," the Icelandic titles are those first assigned to these works in 1847 (see 9F9 and 38). The symbols recording available and recording available refer to works for which spoken or musical recordings are provided.1
