(3 boxes) Call Number: UWM Manuscript Collection 143 Abstract: This collection contains the administrative records of Goals for Greater Milwaukee 2000, a volunteer, community-based organization interested in improving the quality of life for citizens of Greater Milwaukee. The majority of the records in this collection date from 1980 to 1983. Through correspondence, minutes and agendas, publications, papers, and photographs this collection documents the efforts of a citizen group to develop a positive and realistic vision for Milwaukee in the year 2000, and to make suggestions for achieving that vision. Of particular interest are the ten final reports of the Goals 2000 task forces and the final report of its successor, Action for Goals 2000. |

(4 archives boxes) Call Number: M2007-102 Abstract: Papers of Golda Franzen consisting of articles, correspondence, pamphlets, and reports related to her arguments and efforts against adding fluoride to the water supply. Of particular interest is her personal correspondence with Leo Spira (1942-1961), a doctor who researched fluoridation. Also included is the court transcript from a legal suit brought by the state of California against Franzen (1959) for selling a machine advertised to cure cancer. |

Title: Golda Meir Collection, 1904-1987

(9 boxes, including 26 audio cassettes, 2 mini-cassettes, and 1 videocassette) 32 safety film negatives 1 portrait painting 156 digital files (33 GB) Call Number: UWM Manuscript Collection 21 Abstract: The collection consists largely of reproduced correspondence, press releases, photographs, and speeches pertaining to Golda Meir's political life, primarily from 1955 to 1974. The correspondence is usually with friends and admirers, thanking Meir and communicating their support for her. There are two folders of photocopied materials originally created by Ms. Lou Kadar, Meir's secretary, containing supportive letters to Meir, and recollections of her life. The collection also contains newsclippings, many in Hebrew, from the Jerusalem Post (1957-1983), and the Wisconsin Jewish Chronicle (1973-1974), student records (1916), and numerous other papers (1947-1984) about Meir. The photographs are of Meir throughout her life, historic Jewish individuals, and the Milwaukee Jewish community. Also contained in the collection are oral history interviews with persons who knew Meir, including Yitzhak Rabin and Lou Kadar. |

Quantity: .2 cubic ft. (1 box) Call Number: UWM Archival Collection 95 Abstract: The collection contains records relating to the Office for Map History, a unit of the Golda Meir Library. There are a few records relating to the administration of the office, but the majority of the records relate to the mounting of the major exhibition Maps and the Columbian Encounter. The exhibition ran from 1989 to 1992 and displayed a number of original 13th-17th century maps in order to demonstrate the use of maps as instruments of discovery, power, and cultural dominance. |

Contents: Wisconsin Historical Society Archives: 6 folders, 19 sound recordings, 37 photographs; UW-Madison Folklore Program: 14 audiocassettes Unique Identifier: CSUMC0010-CG Summary: This project is one of numerous documentary efforts to capture the essence of the Goose Island Ramblers, an old-time "Norwegian hillbilly" band that was active in the greater Madison, Wisconsin, area, including Dane and Iowa counties, from 1963 through 1975 and again from 1990 to 1999. Folklorist James P. Leary interviewed band members Bruce Bollerud, George Gilbertsen, and K. Wendell Whitford, and with Phil Martin newly recorded songs, and produced a commercial recording, Midwest Ramblin'. Materials available from this project include original sound recordings, photographs, news clippings, published ephemera, and manuscripts from the band members. |

The materials include county board resolutions, incomplete committee minutes, and committee actions, organized by subject. The materials emphasize Feinberg's involvement particularly in the social services and administrative committees; law enforcement, financial and property and zoning issues in La Crosse County. He was particularly concerned with aging issues and the County's medical institutions. The collection does not contain biographical information concerning Feinberg. |

(5 archives boxes) and 1 film Call Number: U.S. Mss 168AF; DC 780 Abstract: Papers of a public relations executive for Trans World Airlines, Inc., consisting primarily of administrative records, publicity and promotional material, and publications. The administrative records include reports, public relations manuals and handbooks, studies of corporate image, and working papers prepared to publicize the proposed Pan Am-TWA merger in 1962. In the publicity files are plans, brochures, correspondence, and press releases describing various inaugural flights and major anniversary celebrations. Included here is a promotional film featuring Lady Bird Johnson. The publications file, which is rather fragmentary, contains samples of various TWA titles. The remainder of the collection consists of correspondence, speeches to college and business audiences, and memorabilia including a journal describing his 1959 trip to East Africa. |

The bulk of the collection relates to commercials made by All Scope Pictures, Inc., Mitchell's production company, on behalf of advertising agencies such as Batten, Barton, Durstine, and Osborn; McCann Erickson; Walter Sausy; and Young & Rubicam. Included in the production files are scripts, correspondence, budgets, contracts, and storyboards for commercials for such nationally-prominent clients as Chrysler Corp., E.J. Gallo Winery, General Electric, General Mills, Kaiser Aluminum, Lucky Lager Brewing Co., Max Factor and Co., Rexall Drug Co., W.A. Schaeffer Pen Co., and Standard Oil of California. Also present are correspondence and notes for three Movietone News features, including one about John F. Kennedy's 1960 California campaign, and fragmentary production files for several proposed television series and special purpose films. Miscellaneous correspondence includes a letter from Darryl F. Zanuck. |

Also includes recording of groundbreaking ceremonies for a new Gorton plant in 1967; and photographs of plant and office employees, as well as exterior views of the building (1940s-1970s). |
| Governor's Guard (La Crosse, Wis.). | Title: Governor’s Guard Association Records Physical Description: 2.2 cubic feet Call Number: MSS B Abstract: Formed August 1, 1873, the Governor’s Guard Association is a social and military organization. Early members were usually of German ancestry or origin. In 1874, the Guard became Company B, Third Regiment of the Wisconsin National Guard. Today the Guard is a benevolent society for veterans. Records, 1877-2003, include historical background (1978-1995 with gaps), administrative files (1878-2003) and financial records (1877-1884; 1891-1942; 1975-1992 with gaps). The bulk of the administrative files include meeting minutes, while other items in the administrative files include applications for membership, membership and sick benefit records, and records relating to the sale of their building at 707 South 6th Street in La Crosse. The financial materials consist of a treasurer’s book, a day book, dues and assessment books, account books, a quartermaster sergeant’s record book and treasurer’s reports. |
