Abstract: The Esta Berg Thomas papers contain many of the published works of Esta Berg Thomas who taught Psychology at Shaw University and during her graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison developed the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test for cognitive flexibility. The collection contains several full sets of cards as well as a card sorting board developed for administration of the test. The collection also contains documents concerned with the test and many of Thomas's written works.

Abstract: Papers of Estelle Hayden, a resident of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, including letters, notes, and articles pertaining to the early history, buildings, settlers, and growth of Sun Prairie. There are also five Civil War letters, 1861-62, written by William Hayden, 4th Regiment Wisconsin Infantry; and twelve letters from her daughter, Ada Bird, describing a trip to Europe in 1904.

Abstract: Papers of a Republican legislator (1964-1985) from Horicon, Wisconsin, who was for many years was the only woman in the Wisconsin legislature. The collection consists of biographical clippings, campaign literature, speeches, newsletters, and a few subject files concerning her efforts to limit and regulate state indebtedness and her work to improve the management of the Canadian geese flock at Horicon. Several files and a number of speeches touch on her conservative position on women's issues including abortion and extension of the ERA.

Abstract: Papers of a Republican legislator from Neenah who served in the Wisconsin Assembly from 1983 to 1990. Included are correspondence from Winnebago County constituents, advocacy groups, government officials, and legislators; memoranda; bill drafts; and reference material. Prominently documented topics include abortion, aging, the state budget, child care, child custody, the Fox River, retirement of public employees, K-12 schools, and property taxes. Some files directly relate to Walling's work on committees such as special Legislative Council committees on Child Custody Arrangements and on Condominiums and Time Shares and to her tenure on the Joint Survey Committee on Retirement Systems.

Abstract: Papers, 1910-1986 (mainly 1935-1986), of Esther Van Wagoner Tufty, a pioneering newspaper woman and broadcaster, who founded her own Washington, D.C. news bureau. Included is personal and business correspondence; biographical materials (including taped reminiscences, clippings, interviews, and a draft autobiography); her syndicated “Michigan in Washington” newspaper columns (bulk 1935-1938); files on various organizations in which she was active and her overseas news reporting; scripts and/or recorded samples of Headlines from Washington, Tufty Topics, Panning the Press, Home (NBC), and other programs; and numerous photographs including portraits of Tufty alone, on work assignments at home and abroad, and with celebrities and Presidents.
