Abstract: Papers of Cecil Brown, a journalist and news commentator whose radio and television analyses of national and international news were aired by ABC, CBS, MBS, NBC and PBS. Broadcast scripts and writings comprise the majority of the collection, with scripts from broadcasts on MBS being the largest. Also included are many photographs, mostly taken by Brown while on assignment and a few recordings of Brown's broadcasts.

Abstract: Papers, 1988-2004, of Cecilia “Cissy” Bowman, organic farmer, educator, writer, speaker, and consultant, documenting her activities as an advocate for organic agriculture in Indiana and her involvement with Indiana Certified Organic (ICO), Hoosier Organic Marketing Education (HOME), and the Indiana Organic Peer Review Panel. Her leadership roles in various sustainable agriculture organizations, including the Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA) International, the Organic Farmers Marketing Association (OFMA), the Organic Trade Association (OTA), and attendance at meetings of the National Organics Standards Board (NOSB) are also documented. Also included is the transcript of an oral history interview with Bowman from 1994.

Abstract: 59 stamp designs that were proposed for the Wisconsin Centennial Stamp Design Contest held by the Milwaukee Philatelic Society in 1948. The sketches are designed for the three-cent U.S. postage stamp to commemorate the 100th Anniversary Centennial of Wisconsin. Most of the drawings are in a single color or black and white, and less than 11 1/2 x 7-inches in size.

Abstract: Records of the Center for Community Technology (CCT), a local, non-profit organization formed in Madison, Wisconsin in 1977 to provide information about energy conservation, alternative energy technology, and environmental issues. Included are articles of incorporation, minutes, correspondence, notes, reports, public relations materials, financial records, photographs, planning documents, and files of Terry Testolin, a VISTA volunteer involved in many CCT activities. Project files contain applications, correspondence, reports, and notes, and they document activities such as passive solar greenhouse installations, retrofit weatherizations, workshops and conferences, annual Alternative Energy Festivals, and the Neighborhood Energy Project. Also well documented is involvement with the Madison Energy Conservation Committee in the enactment of a city rental weatherization code and with groups such as Citizen/Labor Energy Coalition, Students for Community Technology, and Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corporation.

Abstract: Records of the Center for Conflict Resolution, a Madison, Wisconsin, organization concerned with studying aspects of social conflict including war, prejudice, and violence and with developing skills and strategies for dealing with such conflicts. The majority of the collection consists of correspondence, press materials and publications, financial records, and program materials including workshops, conferences, conventions, COPRED (Consortium on Peace Research, Education and Development), brochures, evaluations, and organizational information. Also includes material on an informal series of "rap sessions," several project proposals, files and scripts for public services radio spots and for a radio series, minutes of the Non-violent Training and Education Collective, quarterly files documenting programs, and programming files relating to the development and organization of the CCR’s mediation and facilitation efforts.

Abstract: This collection is a documentation of varieties of limnology-related research topics, with emphasis on fish in various lakes across Wisconsin, especially in Lake Mendota. The bulk of this collection is research carried out by or in collaboration with Arthur D. Hasler. Hasler played a key role in the construction of the Laboratory of Limnology on Lake Mendota and the Trout Lake station on Trout Lake.

Abstract: Records of the Center for Media and Democracy (CMD), a national media group whose mission is to document the influence of corporations on public policy and the electorate. The CMD was established in Madison in 1993 by John Stauber, who served as Executive Director until 2009 when he retired to work as an independent activist. The collection includes subject files on issues such as toxic sludge, mad cow disease, global warming, biotechnology, and tobacco/smoking and consists of articles, news clippings, interviews, tear sheets, reviews, research, correspondence, advertising and public relations, reports, and surveys.

Abstract: This collection consists of studies of local individuals compiled by Central students as part of a La Crosse, Wisconsin, centennial project in 1942. Students interviewed subjects on aspects of their life and recollections of early La Crosse and the surrounding area. Most are general in subject, but some are more specific such as social welfare work, social life, education, winter sports, dress making, river travel, and the like. Transcribed interviews include general recollections, biographical interviews, and specific topical interviews. Discussion outlines are found in the collection as well, but there are no audio or moving image versions of these interviews.

Abstract: Records of a Milwaukee Methodist church formed in 1969 from two urban Methodist congregations: the First Methodist Church which dated to 1836 and the Wesley Methodist Church which was formed in 1883. Records of First Methodist date to 1844 and include sacramental records (1892-1933), minutes of the board, financial records, committee files, records of the Milwaukee Missionary Society, information on various remodeling efforts, and miscellaneous historical materials. Notable are extensive files of church bulletins, 1900-1973, and mimeographed sermons of Ensworth Reisner, 1943-1973. For Wesley Methodist there are sacramental records (1883-1922), collected historical materials, and some ministerial subject files from the 1960s.

Stat. 146.82. Projects include the Extender Role of Professional Nurses Study, Physical Therapy Quality Assurance, Perceptual Motor Skills, Social Behavior Scales, adaptive behavior, and hearing. Well documented is Project 6 designed to evaluate, promote, and spread services to rural areas.
