Abstract: Incomplete corporate records of a milk and dairy products marketing cooperative formed in 1924 as the Ladysmith Milk Producers' Co-operative Association. The cooperative dissolved in 1979. The collection includes by-laws, minutes, correspondence and related material such as loan applications from members and from the cooperative to banks, newsletters, and stock records. Few financial or dairy products' production records are present. There are also a few items from the Dairy Cooperative Institute and National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, Attorneys' and Accountants' Conference.

Abstract: Pictures taken by Edwin Flancher of the Gruettner family of Milwaukee at their home and at their cabin at Lake Manitowish, Vilas County, Wisconsin. The family is pictured in various leisure activities: fishing, hunting, swimming and preparing and eating meals. The pictures provide a sense of family recreation and leisure during the early years of the twentieth century.

Abstract: Papers of Harry W. Flannery, a foreign correspondent, news analyst, author, and AFL-CIO radio coordinator, consisting chiefly of books, articles, research files, World War II communiqués, plays, scripts for films and radio programs, speeches, and tapes. Work for the AFL-CIO is represented by films and film scripts, radio scripts, and over 800 tapes pertaining to ABC's As We See It and John Vandercook and the News and three syndicated programs, Labor Reports to the Nation, Labor Answers Your Questions, and Washington Reports to the Nation. All of the above are notable for the number of prominent individuals interviewed. Also noteworthy are letters written while he was a CBS correspondent in Berlin and as a war correspondent in 1941, and listener mail from the late 1940s concerning alleged Communist influence in California. Prominent correspondents include Paul H. Douglas, Arthur J. Goldberg, Hubert H. Humphrey, John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, George Meany, Upton Sinclair, and Willard Wirtz.

Abstract: Genealogical notes and charts prepared by Lenora Balis Fleek and her daughter, Belle Fleek Harlow, Brodhead, Wisconsin, plus original documents and photographs from the Balis, Batchelder, and Fleek families. The original documents consist of deeds, tax receipts, Civil War orders, occasional correspondence, poetry, a recipe book, and miscellaneous materials. Also included in the Balis Family documents is an account of Chile's 1891 civil war as witnessed by Ben W. Wells, a U.S. sailor; and an 1867 diary and account book kept by farmer Henry M. Balis which contains a general muster roll and clippings on the Civil War service of the Orfordville Volunteers, Co. G., 13th Volunteer Infantry Regiment.

Abstract: Papers of Robert H. Fleming, a Milwaukee Journal reporter, ABC news broadcaster, and government official, including his tenure as Deputy Press Secretary to President Lyndon Johnson. The collection is mainly comprised of subject files on two topics -- Joseph R. McCarthy and freedom of the press -- and includes research, correspondence, and drafts and printed copies of resulting articles. Of particular interest within the freedom of the press section are files on Fleming’s involvement with the National Association of Broadcasters and the Radio-Television News Directors Association.

Abstract: Papers of a father and son who were West Allis, Wis., businessmen and community leaders. The bulk of the collection consists of the correspondence of the C. Nelson Smith Company, which manufactured a patent medicine, D-O-D. Thomas and Harold each were president of the company for a time. The remainder of the papers relate to the Democratic Party activities (1920-1930) of Thomas, who held several state party offices; and to the business, civic, and social activities of Harold, who ran an A & W Root Beer stand franchise, and was active in the American Legion, the Red Cross, local bowling teams, and the Fairview Country Club. Also included are copies of the correspondence of P. H. Callahan, a prominent Catholic layman, varnish manufacturer, and pro-prohibition leader, advocating that prohibition be retained.

Abstract: Records of the law firm partnership of William H. Flett and Milton C. Porter, containing mainly correspondence dealing with debt collection, credit reporting, and land transactions, plus some of Porter's personal and civic papers and correspondence from his service as Lincoln County, Wis. district attorney. Porter's civic papers concern his work as a member of the Lincoln County and Merrill boards of education, the local cemetery board, and the Merrill Masonic Lodge.

Abstract: Papers of Alfred T. Flint, a Madison, Wisconsin, attorney. Included is family correspondence, 1819-1949, containing accounts of journeys in New England and the West; notebooks and diaries relating to Flint's training in World War I; and notes on legal matters, 1916-1954. The collection also contains his lecture notes taken at the University of Wisconsin, 1908-1911, and Harvard Law School, 1914-1917; among these are notes for courses given by John R. Commons, Richard T. Ely, Carl Russell Fish, Felix Frankfurter, and Paul S. Reinsch. Included in the family papers are bills, receipts, diaries, and notebooks from numerous ancestors in Massachusetts and Ohio. The travel accounts, written chiefly by George and Albert S. Flint, describe trips to the White Mountains of New Hampshire (1873), California (1875-1876), Salt Lake City (1877), Mammoth Cave (1877), the coasts of Massachusetts and Maine (1879 and 1883), and the Chicago World's Fair. Ontario canoe trips, 1933 and 1937, are documented by diaries kept by companions of Alfred T. Flint. Also includes photographs of family, family home(s), canoe trips, and World War I training camp, as well as ephemera collected as a high school and college student, a film from canoeing trip(s), and a handmade children's book.

Abstract: Correspondence, research notes, speeches, and scrapbooks documenting the military career of Carl A. Flom, a prominent Madison, Wisconsin, attorney. His correspondence deals mainly with military matters and his scrapbooks detail his experiences at Camp Wheeler, Georgia, from 1940 to 1946. Other materials deal with his service in Japan with the Division of Military Courts. Although a large part of the research notes deals with the trial of General Tomoyuki Yamashita for war crimes in the Philippines, little of the material dates from that time; most of the sources for these notes are from the 1960s. The collection does not pertain to Flom's career as attorney and judge.
