Abstract:
Genealogical notes and charts prepared by Lenora Balis Fleek and her daughter, Belle Fleek Harlow, Brodhead, Wisconsin, plus original documents and photographs from the Balis, Batchelder, and Fleek families. The original documents consist of deeds, tax receipts, Civil War orders, occasional correspondence, poetry, a recipe book, and miscellaneous materials. Also included in the Balis Family documents is an account of Chile's 1891 civil war as witnessed by Ben W. Wells, a U.S. sailor; and an 1867 diary and account book kept by farmer Henry M. Balis which contains a general muster roll and clippings on the Civil War service of the Orfordville Volunteers, Co. G., 13th Volunteer Infantry Regiment.
