Full Compass Sound Studios | Title: Full Compass recordings Quantity: 12 Linear Feet 8 boxes Audiotape reels; analog; stereo, 1/2 track, 1/4 inch tape; majority 10 inch reels Call Number: MML024 Abstract: Sound recordings from the radio program "WIBA/Full Compass live radio concerts" produced between 1973 and 1980 as broadcast on WIBA-FM radio, Madison, Wisconsin. The program was part of Radio Free Madison, WIBA's experiment with alternative rock programming begun in 1969. The artists were mostly Madison or Milwaukee-based musicians. Recorded principally at Full Compass Sound Studios in Madison, Wisconsin. The recordings are mostly unedited, some are edited for re-broadcast. Musical genres represented in the collection include rock, country, bluegrass and jazz. Some notable performers include Pat Metheney, Ben Sidran, Spooner, Asleep at the Wheel, Head East, Luther Allison, Paul Filipowicz Blues Band, and Townes Van Zandt. |
