Abstract: The collection contains photographs and negatives of engines (locomotives), rolling stock, electric interurbans, and streetcars from various railroad and railway companies including the Chicago & North Western Railroad; Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific (the Milwaukee Road); the Milwaukee Electric Railway and Light Company; and the North Shore Line. Many were taken by Robert W. Eichelberg, who was an amateur railroad photographer and part-time employee of Chicago & North Western Railroad. The collection also contains some published rail-related items.

Abstract: Reference collection of the Eighth Air Force Historical Society, Wisconsin Chapter, an organization that was formed by Wisconsin veterans who served in the Eight Air Force during World War II. The collection was originally organized by society members into fifty-six binders containing information taken from websites and other sources pertaining to the service and history of the Eighth Air Force during the war. There are original manuscripts and photographs, but the bulk of the collection consists of copied materials. The collection is divided into individual fighter and bomber groups as well as other units and bases that were attached to the Eight Air Force. Included is poetry written by veterans and their descendants, statistical and historical background information on the various units, mission information, commanding officers, and types of aircrafts used during the war. There are also individual reminiscences and narratives taken from news articles, journal entries, and recollections written by the veterans themselves. Wisconsin veterans found in the collection are: Donald Almon, Ed Damro, William J. Zauner, Billie Melton, Richard Higgins, Mel Ellis, John F. Schimenek, Frank A Koracin, Marcus Kolb, Willard Reese, and Lester E. Kotlan. Black and white and color photographs pertain to various units within the Eighth Air Force and include images of aircraft, the aftermath of bombing runs, and plane crashes. The personal photographs of Donald Almon and Frank Koracin are also included which depict sites visited during the war, unit photographs, and aircraft flown during the war.

Abstract: Papers of Bettie Aldrich Eisendrath, a Milwaukee, Wisconsin social and political activist involved in women’s issues, international human rights, population control, and political struggles in Central America. The collection contains files, mainly 1950-1991, documenting her and her husband Jack’s work with the Milwaukee Chapter of the World Federalist Association (WFA). Also included is a small amount of material related to the life of Dr. Albert Schweitzer; photographs of the Eisendraths and their friends; audio recordings including speeches given by various activists, and personal family reminiscences.

Abstract: Papers and photographs of Edmund Eisenscher, photographer for the Wisconsin CIO News and a member of Amalgamated Lithographers of America, Local 7 (Milwaukee). Brief papers include correspondence, financial reports, and wage scales from Local 7; minutes of meetings of the Allis-Chalmers West Allis Works Council; scripts and a playbill for performances by the Allis Chalmers Union Players; newsletters, constitution, and by-laws for the New Theater of the Air, an organization for amateur radio actors; and other miscellaneous labor-related material. The most significant portion of the collection is the photographs made by Eisenscher, most of which appeared in the CIO News. Imagery includes local union-related social activities, such as bowling, basketball games, Christmas parties, and dances; meetings and conferences; strike activities; Milwaukee politicians; union officials; women's auxiliary groups; and black unionists.

Abstract: Oral history interview conducted January 26, 1982 by Dale E. Treleven of the Historical Society staff with Sigmund Eisenscher, in Chicago, Illinois. Eisenscher was a Communist Party (CPUSA) organizer during the Party's efforts to promote industrial unionism in 1930's and 1940's. This interview is part of the Wisconsin Labor Oral History Project.
