Etter, Orval, 1915- Title: Orval Etter Papers, 1944-1957
Quantity: 6 reels of microfilm (35mm)
Call Number: Micro 805
Abstract: Papers of Orval Etter, a former San Francisco and Far West executive secretary of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, consisting largely of records of that organization and a few items relating to other pacifist groups with which Etter was involved. Included are minutes, correspondence, financial records, and press material of the San Francisco, national, and international offices and various regional and local chapters. Minutes and membership materials for both the San Francisco and national offices are extensive. Although the correspondence is generally routine, it provides a detailed picture of the activities and concerns of West Coast pacifists during the immediate post-war years and during the height of the Cold War. Topics of concern include arrangements for conferences and speaking tours, work with conscientious objectors, and recurrent financial difficulties.
