: Mainly notes of interviews taken in 1851 during portions of Draper's journey through western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and the French villages along the Mississippi River in Illinois and Missouri. Although many topics are touched upon, biographical emphasis was placed on Boone, Brady, Clark, Crawford, John Edgar, Micajah and Wiley Harpe, Simon Kenton, Jonathan and Josiah Ramsay, James Robertson, the Todd family, and Cornelius Washburn. A few brief notations from the Catholic Church records at Kaskaskia and a genealogy of the Kenton family are interspersed among the interview notes.
