Abstract: Papers and scrapbooks pertaining to the life and career of W.H. Upham, the seventeenth governor of Wisconsin, 1895-1897. The scrapbooks contain original letters, clippings, and memorabilia focusing on Upham's experiences as a soldier in the 2nd Wisconsin Infantry during the Civil War (including reminiscences of Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln), highlights of his lumber business in Marshfield, Wisconsin, and his role as governor. Also included are photographs and lithographs and a pen and ink cartoon depicting Upham and other gubernatorial candidates in 1894.

Abstract: Papers of William H. Upham and his wife Elizabeth (“Betty Ann”, nee Dentz). Upham attended the University of Wisconsin, served in World War II, and ran for governor on the American Party ticket in 1974. Betty Ann attended the University of Wisconsin where she met and married William Upham in 1937. The collection consists of scrapbooks compiled by Betty Ann documenting the Uphams' college years (1934-1941); a diary written by William Upham and letters written by the Uphams during World War II while Upham served as a lieutenant in the Army (1941-1946); and materials including correspondence, speeches, clippings, and campaign brochures and posters from Upham's 1974 gubernatorial bid.

Abstract: Papers of Walter Uphoff and Mary Jo Uphoff, documenting Walter Uphoff’s interests and writings concerning the Kohler Company strikes, teaching in the field of workers and labor education, and active membership in the national and Wisconsin Socialist Party, including his candidacy for U.S. Senator on the state Socialist ticket in 1944. He also promoted the cooperative movement and good farm-labor relations and, with his wife Mary Jo, managed and operated Fellowship Farm Cooperative (first in Prairie du Sac, then in Oregon, Wisconsin). The Uphoffs were active in peace organizations, supported their son in his activities as a Freedom Rider, and in later years were interested in psychic phenomena and paranormal psychology. The papers include correspondence, financial records, mailings and small publications, as well as research materials and drafts of Walter Uphoff’s books on the Kohler strikes.

Abstract: Papers of Edmon D. Upson, an itinerant Methodist minister who was an evangelist in lumber camps, and later served as a pastor in Hebron, Peshtigo, Verona, Middleton, Waupun, Whitehall, and Madison, Wisconsin. Included are diaries; church record books from Waupun, 1897-1898, and Whitehall, 1915-1916; a daily expenditures and receipts book, 1894-1897; scrapbooks of clippings relating primarily to his ministerial career; and lantern slides used for religious lectures.
