Abstract: Records of ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now)-Illinois, 1983-2006, principally from the Chicago office and head organizer Madeline Talbott, documenting the organization's activities concerning local actions and campaigns on such issues as abandoned housing, schools and various education programs, utility rates and energy assistance, jobs, housing, welfare, the living wage campaign, and predatory lending. Photographs document events and rallies, and include images of Bobby Rush, Luis Gutierrez, Barack Obama, and Jesse Jackson Jr.

Abstract: Interviews conducted for the Illinois Labor History Society with seven former officials of the United Packinghouse Workers of America concerning the history of the union, 1933-1981. Topics include organizational efforts, discrimination in the work place, and the 1968 merger with the Amalgamated Meatcutters and Butcher Workmen. The interviews were conducted by Les Orear and Sue Davenport. Interviewees include Ralph Helstein, Les Orear, Joe Zabritsky, Herbert March, Sam Parks, Virgil Bankson, and Don James. Also in the collection is a summary abstract and similar content notes for part of the Helstein interview only.

Abstract: Records of a standing committee established by the Illinois Yearly Meeting of Friends in 1959 to study the welfare of Indians, particularly the Menominee, Oneida, and Winnebago tribes, and to support legislation to aid the Menominees in adjusting to termination. Included are correspondence, annotated copies of relevant state and federal legislation, minutes of I-WFCAI and related groups, and newsletters, clippings, and other research material on the Menominees. The collection was compiled by chairman Paxton Hart.
