Abstract: Correspondence of John M. Evans, an Evansville, Wisconsin, physician and pioneer, chiefly for the years 1862-1863 while surgeon in the 13th Regiment Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, and later with the Medical Division of the District of Northern Alabama. Written by Evans and others from various points in Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama, and by his wife in LaPorte, Indiana and Evansville, the letters are primarily personal but give some information about life in the army and news of the war. A letter of Jason Evans, 1847, recounts experiences in the Mexican War. Several letters in 1850 from students at Indiana Medical College, LaPorte, and Rush Medical College, Chicago, contain information about frontier medical training and practice. A physician's handbook of practice, 1860, is also present, as is an account book of Dr. Evans.

Abstract: Papers, 1948-2008, of Rowland Evans Jr. and Robert D. Novak, one of the nation's longest journalistic partnerships. Evans and Novak were best known for their newspaper column “Inside Report” and the Evans & Novak cable television program. Novak alone was known for work on the Crossfire and Capital Gang television programs. Documentation of their joint and individual writing and reporting includes a complete run of “Inside Report” with an index; transcripts and video and audio documentation of Evans & Novak; articles, newsletters, drafts, and research material for free-lance writings and books such as The Agony of the GOP, Lyndon B. Johnson: the Exercise of Power and Nixon in the White House, and Novak's lengthy autobiography, The Prince of Darkness. Supplementing the writings and reporting are extensive subject files containing additional interviews and primary and secondary research material on many topics. Research on the presidencies of Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, and William Clinton is particularly strong. Also included are reader and viewer mail, general correspondence, political polls, scheduling files, and some separate files of Rowland Evans.

Abstract: Autographs and manuscripts collected by D. C. Everest, a Wausau, Wisconsin, paper mill executive, civic leader, and philanthropist, who became a manuscript and autograph collector as a young man and continued to participate in various purchases and sales throughout his lifetime. The collection consists of autographs, or examples of the writing, of over eighty noteworthy American, British, and Wisconsin political and cultural figures, including the autographs of most of the presidents of the United States through Dwight D. Eisenhower; and four small manuscript collections. The manuscripts consist of an account book, 1853-1860, for the Pine Grove Mills, apparently a flour mill and general store, in the Town of Pine Grove, Van Buren County, Michigan; Commonwealth of Massachusetts military records, 1789-1830, which include officer appointment, election, and dismissal records, voting affidavits, complaints, and petitions; records, 1696-1863 (primarily legal documents), of the Morse and Wheelock families of Medfield, Norfolk County, Massachusetts; and miscellaneous manuscripts, 1695-1919, consisting of legal and financial documents, letters, and appointment and other announcements from England as well as most eastern states.

Abstract: Papers of D. C. Everest, a Wausau, Wisconsin paper, lumber, and insurance company executive, civic leader, and philanthropist. Included are office files pertaining to all aspects of his business, professional, civic, philanthropic, political, and social concerns; his speeches and articles; correspondence, reports, minutes, and news releases received by Everest as a consultant to the United States Office of Production Management in the 1940s; and invoices for his personal finances for 1929-1934 and 1949-1950. Information is present on the Marathon Corporation which he joined in 1909 and served as president from 1938 to 1950; on several other companies of which he was a director or officer; on the Western Paper Manufacturers' Association, concerned in part with counteracting the development of trade unions; and on other industry related organizations such as the American Paper and Pulp Association, the American Forestry Association, the Institute of Paper Chemistry, and Trees for Tomorrow. Reports on the Marathon Corporation as a case study of industrial peace by the National Planning Association in 1950 are present. Also included is Everest family genealogical data, records of the 1920s construction and furnishings costs of the Everest home in Wausau, documentation from Everest's local and national participation in the Republican Presidential campaigns of 1928 and 1936, and records of his civic involvement with groups such as the Boy Scouts, the Red Cross, and the YMCA.

Abstract: Records of the Evergreen Cemetery Association (ECA) in Menomonie, Wisconsin, 1874-2010, founded by the Knapp-Stout and Co. [Lumber] Company and later managed by the ECA. Included in the collection are burial records and research papers documenting the renovation and restoration of the cemetery in the effort to place the burial ground of the State and National Registers of Historic Places. Burial records detail demographic information, 1874-1993. Also included are newspaper clippings, 1874-2009, reporting the cemetery's history and relationship to Menomonie. Chicago landscape architects, William French and Horace Cleveland, landscaped the cemetery in Rural Romantic style.

Every, a bee inspector for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Division of Entomology, also owned a small farm and apiary in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Also included is a short essay, "Memories of a Bee Inspector's Wife," by Carolyn Every, Rod Every's wife.

Abstract: Subject files of William T. Evjue, the founder, editor, and publisher of the Madison, Wisconsin, Capital Times, including both personal and professional correspondence, clippings, memoranda, financial material, posters, and speeches. The papers primarily date from the late 1930s and relate to the entire range of Evjue's interests: state and national politics, governmental corruption, Joseph R. McCarthy, Alvin O'Konski, the Taliesin Fellowship, cooperatives, public utilities, gambling, freedom of the press, and the rights of farmers and workers. Scattered materials pertain to the operation of the Capital Times, Madison Newspapers Inc., and Badger Broadcasting Company. Among the prominent correspondents are Robert S. Allen, Arthur J.
