Abstract: Records, 1906-1939, consisting of dress advertisements, purchase statement of the Rhoades Millinery and Ready to Wear Store purchase, bank account registers, check registers, and expense and customer sales records. In 1906, the Rhoades family purchased the Millinery and Ready to Wear Store and in 1907 the business opened. Store records consist of bank records, and store inventory and sales records of items sold including coats and dresses.

Abstract: Papers of Lorinda “Lindy” Rhoades consisting of letters received from her pen pals in Germany and Scotland, World War II ephemera, and a Neenah Methodist Church booklet. Susi Herz, her German pen pal during 1937 and 1938, discusses political views in favor of the Nazi party, laws against interracial marriage, and personal views toward minorities. In contrast, Margaret, her Scottish pen pal during the beginning of World War II, discusses unfavorable attitudes toward Hitler and the Nazi Party. World War II ephemera consists of advertisements and letters Rhoades received from friends informing her that they joined the United States Army. Also includes a scrapbook Rhoades compiled while on a trip to Georgia with her mother in 1936 including illustrated pictures, maps, and handwritten descriptions of various sites.

Abstract: Irving G. Rhodes was a prominent and active member of the Jewish community in Milwaukee, and publisher of the Wisconsin Jewish Chronicle from its founding in 1920, until 1973. During his time in Milwaukee, Rhodes was involved in a variety of civic, charitable and religious organizations within the Jewish community. The collection includes records of Rhodes’ involvement with a variety of Jewish civic and religious organizations, and correspondence with business and political contacts.
Rhymer, Paul, 1905-1964 Title: Paul Rhymer Papers, 1928-1972

Abstract: Papers of a radio and television writer best known for his creation of the humorous daytime serial Vic and Sade (NBC). Scripts for this radio program comprise the bulk of the collection, but there are also materials pertaining to Keystone Chronicles (NBC), The Public Life of Cliff Norton (NBC), and other programs which Rhymer wrote either as an NBC staff member or as a free-lance writer. A small quantity of correspondence includes letters from James Gould Cozzens, Upton Sinclair, and James Thurber and memoranda circulated in the NBC continuity department. Also present are photographs; contracts; book reviews written for the Chicago Sun-Times; articles about Rhymer; and a copy of The Small House Halfway Up the Next Block (1972), Mrs. Rhymer's book about the Vic and Sade program.
