Scope and Content Note

The Clark Jones Papers, 1952-1970, consist primarily of scripts for television and opera, and are arranged alphabetically, first by series and then by title. The majority of the collection (Boxes 1-13) relates to Jones' career as a director of such television series as The Bell Telephone Hour, The Carol Burnett Show, The Perry Como Show, and The World of Music. There are also twenty-four scripts (Boxes 14-17) for specials which he directed from 1952-1968. These scripts include Annie Get Your Gun,The Lord Don't Play Favorites, and the Tony Awards of 1967 and 1969. Complementing the scripts are cast inventories and photographs.

A script and crew photographs document Jones' 1952 French-language production of Carmen (the first demonstration of closed circuit theater television) at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.

Included in the collection are three films: The Education of Mr. Blandings: Lesson One (1954), and two films of Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall (one 1960 and one undated).
