Alphabetical index cards which serve as an additional finding aid to the general correspondence. The cards note the existence of a letter from a particular individual, sometimes briefly summarize the subject, and indicate the title of the folder in which the letter was filed when correspondence was in Knowles' office. The cards do not reflect the weeding done to Series 2142 in the Archives to remove routine and ephemeral correspondence nor do the folder titles reflect changes made during processing in the Archives.
