Subseries: 7C. Medals and Honors, 1857-2002
: This subseries consists of materials relating to honors that the AGS
bestowed on geographers, explorers, and other prominent contributors to
the field of geography. The honors came in the form of various medals
for different types of accomplishments and honorary memberships to the
AGS. The subseries is primarily correspondence from the AGS to these
individuals. Also contains materials on funds for the medals,
photographs of the medals and presentation ceremonies, and other
ephemera from the events. For an index of various types of honorary
members, see Series 1D.
