Ronald Klett collection

Scope and Contents

The collection mainly consists of materials produced by Ronald Klett in his capacity as founder and president of the Willem Mengelberg Society. The society's mission was to promote the legacy of Dutch conductor Willem Mengelberg (1871-1951), and to research Mengelberg's life and works.

The society published a newsletter (3-4 annually) between 1970 and 2000, and several books about Mengelberg. The activities and products of the society appear to be soley the work of Klett.

The collection is arranged into two series: I. Papers, II. Photographs and postcards. Series I, Papers includes a form letter for prospective subscribers detailing the goals, activities and subscription information of the society (1970?); an incomplete, unpublished book manuscript, "Willem Mengelberg : His American concerts, his American fate" (1994). Series II, Photographs and postcards, includes loose photographs, postcards and menus from dinners honoring Mengelberg (1912-1947).
