Abstract: Records of the Textile Workers Union of America (TWUA), its immediate predecessor, the Textile Workers Organizing Committee (TWOC, 1937-1939), and its predecessor and sometime competitor, the United Textile Workers of America (UTWA, 1901- ), and its successor, the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union (ACTWU, 1976- ), including records of the TWUA international office; New York and New Jersey state directors' offices; the Research Division; Executive Council, President's, Executive Vice-President's, and Secretary-Treasurer's offices; and Dyers and Printers, Education, Publications, Organizing, Cotton-Rayon, and Woolen-Worsted Divisions. Present are subject files, correspondence, speeches, organizers' reports, news releases, publications, and expired contracts. Subjects include union administration, financial affairs, internal dissent, conventions, wages, negotiations, strikes, politics, congressional testimony, organizing campaigns, production, profits, safety, insurance, grievances, employers, contracts, and settlements.

Abstract: Papers of William H.C. Folsom, an Indian trader, lumberman, land speculator, Minnesota politician, and steamboat owner, including correspondence, 1841, 1851-1900; an account book, 1841-1844, from his business dealings in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; and papers relating to Folsom's activities in the Mississippi-St. Croix Valley. Two additional volumes contain cargo records and passenger lists for his steamboat, the Wyman X, for 1870-1871. Among the correspondence are two letters describing bad conditions in the 1863 Army campaign against the Sioux uprising.
