Winnebago County (Wis.). Treasurer: Real, Personal Property, and Income Tax Rolls, 1856-1995

Scope and Content Note

Real estate and personal property tax rolls for Winnebago County and a few income tax rolls for the City of Oshkosh. For real property, the rolls show the owner's name, land description, assessed valuation, taxes and charges assessed, amount paid, and date paid. For personal property, the rolls show name of owner, type and value of property, amount of taxes and charges assessed, amount paid, and date paid.

The volumes for 1920 Oshkosh include income tax rolls showing the names and addresses of taxpayers, the income tax assessed, the amount of tax paid, and the date upon which the tax was paid. The 1920 volume also contains income surtax rolls showing the names and addresses of taxpayers, the amount of soldiers' educational surtax assessed and paid, and the date of payment. Entries are arranged alphabetically by taxpayer's surname.

The series includes Special Tax rolls, 1880-1897, from Menasha. It appears that these were for a special tax assessed for the Wisconsin Central Railroad Fund.
