Racine Trades and Labor Council Records, 1902-1952

Scope and Content Note

The records consist of: meeting minutes, financial records, and miscellaneous records. The Meeting Minutes document delegate meetings and are almost complete for the years 1910 to 1922 and 1941 to 1949 but are scattered for the years 1950 to 1952. The Financial Records span the years 1902-1938 with scattered types of documentation. Absent from the collection is any correspondence. A run of the council publication, the Labor Advocate, is available on microfilm in the State Historical Society library.

The Meeting Minutes, 1910-1952, are arranged chronologically. There are no minutes for the periods January 1916-July 1918 or May 1922-December 1940. Minutes are scattered for the years 1950-1952.

The Financial Records, 1902-1924; 1935-1938, consist primarily of journals detailing receipts and expenditures. Of particular note is the ledger itemizing rent and Council delegate dues received from the member unions for 1902-1924. Also included in this series is an account book, 1916-1920, for the Labor Advocate.

The Miscellaneous Records, 1914-1936, include one volume of meeting attendance records listing the officers and delegates, as well as a small miscellaneous file.
