Records of the American Institute of the History of Pharmacy (AIHP), an organization founded in 1941 and dedicated to the research, publication, development, and promotion of the history of pharmacy. The collection consists largely of the director's files (primarily those of George Urdang and Glenn Sonnedecker) and those of various other officers, detailing policies and procedures, finances and fundraising efforts, planning of business meetings and historical sessions, publishing activities, and relationships with other organizations. It includes files pertaining to the 1983 International Congress of the History of Pharmacy, which was co-sponsored by the Institute. Also present in the files of George Urdang is correspondence with German colleagues and friends during and after World War II. Many of these friends had immigrated to the United States and other countries, and the letters discuss their experiences. English
