H. W. Jordens Papers, circa 1874-1954

Scope and Content Note

The Jordens Papers relate primarily to the Milwaukee German American community. They include a folder of letters and other writings in German script that relate to Jordens' great-grandfather, Emil Viergutz, a German immigrant who operated a hardware store in Milwaukee. The papers also include scattered correspondence, clippings, financial statements, minutes, and other miscellany relating to the Rigoletto Mandolin Club (an orchestral group composed almost entirely of mandolins), 1925-1945, and to the Federation of German-American Societies of Wisconsin, 1941-1954.
