Records, 1911-1992 (bulk 1952-1992), of the political office in Wisconsin of the United Transportation Union (UTU), including agreements, by-laws, general correspondence, minutes of the State Legislative Board (incomplete, 1968-1984) and information on state reorganization meetings, detailed quarterly reports (1952-1978) of the legislative representative, notes, and financial information.

The correspondence includes not only files of several UTU state representatives, but also the similar earlier files of W.E. McDonough and H.R. Johnson, the Wisconsin legislative representatives of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen during the early 1950s and 1960s. They operated in cooperation with the state legislative representatives of the other railroad unions as a Wisconsin Joint Board, and the files contain some papers about this cooperation. Much of the correspondence concerns endorsement and support of particular legislative candidates and various complaints concerning work rules and investigations. Recent correspondence of Thomas Dwyer consists of exchanges with Wisconsin congressmen, leaders of local 120 (La Crosse) and 311 (Milwaukee), and officers of the Burlington Northern, Soo Line, and Chicago and Northwestern railroads.
