Part 3 (M2003-073): Additions, 1906-1939
Physical Description: 97 reels of microfilm (35 mm) and 4 compact discs
Scope and Content Note

Microfilmed copies of engineering drawings and photographs created by the International Harvester Company between about 1906 and 1939.

The engineering drawings detail parts for tractors and engines produced by the company during this period. The drawings were microfilmed by the company in the 1950s. The company considered the drawings to be “voided” or obsolete at the time. Consequently, the drawings are much more complete for the earlier years (before 1925).

The photographs were taken by the company's engineering department to document product development, and include images of experimental tractors. The photographs seem to date from the 1906-1939 period. They were microfilmed by the company in the late 1950s. The quality of the images is very poor.

Access Restrictions: For access to these materials, please make an appointment with the McCormick-International Harvester Collection archivist.
Arrangement of the Materials: The microfilm is arranged in two sections:
  • 1) Tractor Engineering Drawings, circa 1906-1939; further divided into “FEV (Farm Equipment Voids?)” and “TVD (Tractor Voids?)”, and arranged roughly by drawing size or type, then by part number.
  • 2) Engineering photographs; arranged by original negative number.
Note: The Tractor Engineering Drawings have also been digitzed (over 35,000 drawings).
