Series: “The Group” Files, 1960-1972 : Liberal (project) Group and Democratic Study Group (DSG)
“The Group” was intended as a smaller offshoot of the Democratic Study Group. Consisting of mostly anti-war Democratic representatives, members of “the Group” cosponsored legislation, wrote letters and press releases, and discussed policy matters. The Democratic Study Group was a legislative service organization created in 1959 to educate House members on upcoming legislation and policy issues. The Democratic Study Group was ended in 1995 due to changes in Congressional rules.
