Wisconsin Independent Schools Athletic Association Records, 1928-2000

Scope and Content Note

The records for boys' basketball go back as far as 1928, the first year private statewide Catholic school tournaments were held, but most records of boys sports date from the 1950s. Beginning in 1975, WISAA sanctioned girls' basketball but most of the records for girls' sports date from 1980-1999. Also included are newspaper clippings reporting the dissolution of WISAA, various WISAA publications, constitutions and bylaws, championship guides from the late 1990s, and demographics of participating schools such as size, nickname, colors, etc. Additionally, there is one videotape, produced during WISAA’s last season of competition, documenting the history of the association.
