“Index to Guardianships” (Jefferson Series 35) and “Index to Estate Cases” (Jefferson Series 33) provide an index to cases from 1844 to 1919. Contact the Jefferson County Register in Probate to obtain the box number for post-1919 cases. Although some cases can be found from the surname only, this method is unreliable and RESEARCHERS SHOULD USE THE INDEX(ES) TO FIND THE BOX NUMBER IN WHICH THE CASE FILE IS LOCATED.
