Biography/History
Frederick Harbridge, originally from England, moved to Racine in 1864 to work in the drug store established by Kidder and Harris in 1847. By 1881, Frederick had sole ownership of the business, the F. Harbridge Company, and had expanded to include a grocery.
Frederick's son Roy married Bertha L. Spence, daughter of J.W. Spence, a pioneer jeweler in Racine. Together they had three children, including Malcolm D. Harbridge. After Frederick's death in 1915, Roy served as president of the F. Harbridge Company until his reitrement in 1949, and also was the Dean of Racine Pharmacists until his death in 1958.
