Biography/History

Carole Gottlieb Vopat is professor of English and Women’s Studies at University of Wisconsin – Parkside, where she has taught since 1970. Her specialties include Holocaust Studies, Women’s Studies, Multicultural narratives, and Creative Writing. She is the founding director of the Women's Studies Program at UWP and has sat on its Steering Committee since 1982. Vopat has won several professional awards, such as the UW Regents Teaching Excellence Award and the Stella Grey Teaching Excellence Award. In addition to her professional accolades, she has won awards for her poetry and fiction writings.
