Abstract:
Video recordings of survivors of the Holocaust. The speaker series was a part of Holocaust Studies classes taught by Dr. Carole G. Vopat at the University of Wisconsin–Parkside. Also included in the collection are biographical notes on the featured speakers. Where not noted otherwise, DVDs record public presentations of the speakers.

Biography/History

Carole Gottlieb Vopat is professor of English and Women’s Studies at University of Wisconsin – Parkside, where she has taught since 1970. Her specialties include Holocaust Studies, Women’s Studies, Multicultural narratives, and Creative Writing. She is the founding director of the Women's Studies Program at UWP and has sat on its Steering Committee since 1982. Vopat has won several professional awards, such as the UW Regents Teaching Excellence Award and the Stella Grey Teaching Excellence Award. In addition to her professional accolades, she has won awards for her poetry and fiction writings.

Scope and Content Note

Collection contains 26 DVDs and brief biographical sketches of speakers. Several of the DVDs have been transcribed. They can be found on the networked computers at the UWP Archives: Y:\UWP Manuscript Collections\MC 018 Carol Vopat Holocaust Collection

Arrangement of the Materials

The DVDs are organized alphabetically by speaker's last name, then chronologically by date of recording.
