Hilmar Luckhardt Collection

Scope and Contents

The Hilmar Luckhardt Collection is stored in 24 archival boxes. It is divided into three series covering sheet music, paper records and audio recordings.

Series I contains sheet music and scores. Most are compositions by Hilmar Luckhardt, including subseries of music for band, chamber ensembles, film music, orchestra, piano, vocals, arrangements and miscellaneous other compositions. The material available includes drafts, manuscript scores, sets of parts and published scores. A final subseries contains compositions by other musicians.

Series II contains paper records. Subseries cover books and manuscripts written or edited by Hilmar Luckhardt, class notes and records from courses taught by Hilmar Luckhardt at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and papers from Luckhardt's education at the University of Chicago.

Series III contains audiotape reels containing performances of compositions by Hilmar Luckhardt. Most recordings are performed by musical groups at UW-Madison.
