Access Restrictions

Researchers must use digital copies of the audiovisual items either online or in the Archives. There are no other access restrictions on the materials, and the collection is open to all members of the public in accordance with state law.


Use Restrictions

The researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel, privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection (Wisconsin Statutes 19.21-19.39).


Acquisition Information

The AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin donated records in May 2014 (accession 2013-048), September 2014 (2014-024), March 2015 (2014-038), April 2015 (2014-040 and 2014-043), and June 2015 (2014-045); July 2015 Doug Nelson donated a commemorative hypodermic needle and Mike Gifford donated a bottle of drinking water from the cryptosporidium period. Mike Gifford donated a 2018 medallion in September 2018 (accession 2018-010).


Processing Information

Tim Cary and Greg Comly processed this collection in the fall of 2014 through spring 2015. Tim Cary added the items donated in July 2015 to the collection in March 2016. Christel Maass added accession 2018-010 to the collection in September 2018. Shiraz Bhathena added the digitized images and videos to the finding aid in April 2023.


Preservation Information

Scene Savers digitized the audiovisual materials in January 2015. Audio preservation master files were created as 96 kHz/24-bit resolution 2 channel .wav files; access copies as 44 kHz/320 kbps bit rate 2 channel .mp3 files. Video preservation master files were created as uncompressed 720x480 (3:2) .avi files. Video access copies were created as compressed 640x480 (4:3) .mp4 files.
