Database Fields

Field Name Field Content
Subject Subject of the image.
Location Place the photograph was taken.
Date Date the photograph was taken or developed.
Negative Number Number assigned by archives staff to an image. Negative numbers starting with the letter "N" are from when the collection was first processed. Those starting with the letter "A" were assigned when the negatives were rehoused. Negatives starting with the letter "B" indicate that the negative came from a negative book, was also removed, and was assigned the number during rehousing.
Negative Box Number of the box in which the negative is housed.
Print Box Number of the box in which a photographic print is housed.
Print Folder Number of the folder in which a photographic print is housed.
Size Dimensions of the negative.
Form The form (physical media) of the photograph or photographs (e.g., safety film negatives, nitrate negatives, photographic prints).
Color Indicates if the negative or slide is color.

A spreadsheet with file-level information on the electronic audio files is available in the Archives department. The spreadsheet contains information on file size, date modified, supplied title, supplied subject and original year of interviews (Series 5), image size (Series 8), and file format. Additional technical metadata is available; consult an archivist for more information.
