German civilians, circa 1918
Physical Description: 4 photographs
Scope and Content Note: Portrait groups of German civilians (men, women, and children), about 1918. These portraits, apparently by a German local photographer in a rural community, are made probably in an effort to conserve materials. With the aid of a wooden frame and a two-stage background of French army blankets, six persons pose at once, three standing and three seated. The six portraits are later to be cut apart along the lines of the six-part frame.
