Abstract:
Legislative papers of a Democrat from Cazenovia, Wisconsin, who represented the 50th Assembly District (1970-1982) and who was best known for her leadership of the legislative opposition to abortion. Included are constituent correspondence; legislative, subject, and committee files; and press releases, speeches, scripts (on microfilm) and recordings of her weekly radio broadcasts. Information on her opposition to abortion in Wisconsin is extensive, as is material on smoking, alcohol, railroad abandonment, and the University of Wisconsin College of Veterinary Medicine, although her reputation on these issues was less well known. Committee files relate to Tourism, Recreation, and Economic Development, the Special Study Committee on State-Supported Programs; State-Federal Relations; and other committees which she headed or on which she served. These include minutes, transcripts, tape recordings and correspondence. Also available only on microfilm are biographical clipping albums.
