Lynn Farnol Files: United Artists Corporation Records, Series 2D, 1940

Scope and Content Note

The file consists of Farnol's correspondence from January through June of 1940. There are letters to and from the media, publishing companies, trade papers, theaters and film production companies. There is extensive correspondence with United Artists branch managers and field agents, along with many inter-office memos, especially to and from UA vice president, G.D. Buckley. Also included is a folder of employment applications.

Various subjects are discussed in the correspondence, among them advertising budgets for pictures; the organization, and budgets for, special events; and the solicitation of publicity in newspapers and magazines. Also treated are specific publicity ideas from Farnol and others, coordination of advertising policies with UA producers and general personnel matters.

The file is incomplete; only materials from “A” to “K” have survived.
