Abstract:

The Renee B. Lang collection (1908-1998) contains correspondence, manuscripts, typescripts, published and unpublished materials, and hundreds of pages of handwritten notes, some on small scraps of paper, on early 20th century French and German authors. The collection primarily focuses on Lang's research on Andre Gide, Paul Valery, R.M. Rilke, and Natalie Barney. Also contained in the collection is Lang's professional correspondence and work with publishers and her academic correspondence and notes universities, colleagues, and students from her time as an instructor at multiple institutions.
