The Renee B. Lang collection is arranged into 6 series. The first series is a significant portion of correspondence to Lang, with a few letters from her. There are dozens of individual correspondents, notably Andre Gide, Gianna Manzini, Giorgio Levi Della Vida, and Jean Cocteau. There are several folders of correspondence with John Tedeschi, the curator of UW-Madison's Special Collections about the donation of Lang's book collection and her papers.

The second series, Works by Lang, includes various drafts of articles, invitations and announcements, radio broadcasts, lectures, and book reviews. This series has some materials from Lang as an instructor, with notes about various classes she taught.

The third and fourth series are on Lang's research. The third series is specifically Lang's research on Natalie C. Barney. Included in this series is all of the correspondence between Lang and Barney, Lang's handwritten notes on Barney, photos of Barney, autographed typescripts, newspaper clippings and articles on Barney. The fourth series is Lang's research on other authors, with most of the focus on Andre Gide, Paul Valery, R.M. Rilke, and Jean Cocteau. Some research is on the correspondence between the previously mentioned authors. Most of the contents are Lang's handwritten notes, photocopies of letters, articles and newspaper clippings, and notes on lectures given by Lang.

The fifth series is Personal Materials. This consists of scrapbooks, photographs and photo albums, biographical information on her parents, and notebooks and memo books.

The sixth series is Offprints, Reprints, and Index cards. This series contains dozens of offprints and journals that were given to Lang, some with written notes on them. Additionally, reprints of articles on Gide, Valery, Rilke, and other authors of note are in this series.
