Abstract:
Variant scripts for several television programs produced by Procter & Gamble Productions, a subsidiary of Procter & Gamble, including soap operas, The Guiding Light (1958-1979) and As the World Turns (1956-1962, 1965, 1971, 1973-1979), as well as television shows, The Danny Thomas Show (1959-1960; previously titled Make Room for Daddy) and The Rifleman (1958-1959). Most of the scripts are mimeographed air scripts including scripts for commercials. Many are annotated to indicate timing and dialogue changes. Also included are some production records including files from 1958 to 1975 of Lucy Ferri Rittenberg of the Compton Advertising Agency, who served as production executive for The Guiding Light, and files from 1955 to 1957 of Charles Fisher, the account executive at Benton and Bowles who produced As the World Turns. Several of The Rifleman scripts were written by Sam Peckinpah and by Bruce Geller.
