Biography/History

Lodge 259 was organized in Ashland, Wisconsin on May 7, 1888, and affiliated with the national Brotherhood, which was founded in 1873. (After 1907 the name of the national union was changed to Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen.) The union had as its goals the protection of railroad workers and their families, and improvement of wages and working conditions.
