John A. Schultz Papers, 1919-1956

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of a folder of photocopied news clippings, in Polish and in English, dating from the 1940s, which illustrate several of the important events of Schultz's political career. Also included are copies of Schultz's obituaries and other biographical information, four certificates awarded to John and Estelle Schultz in recognition of their efforts in World War II war bond drives, a copy of a report concerning the City of Milwaukee master plan, dated January 11, 1947, a printed constitution and by-laws of the Polish Century Club of Detroit, and a Polish-language booklet containing printed Stations of the Cross (Stacje Drogi Krzyzowej, 1933). In a second folder are several campaign handbills, a copy of “The Eleventh Ward Bulletin” campaign paper (March 30, 1940); and photographs depicting an August 1919 banquet at Schultz's Place, Alderman Schultz on a harbor inspection cruise (1937), the War Memorial erected by the 11th and 24th Wards in 1943, Senator Alexander Wiley, and the 1944-1948 Milwaukee Common Council.
