Biography/History

Carolyn Gina Lovell was born in Phillips, Wisconsin on August 7, 1921. She attended local schools, graduating from high school in 1939. Soon thereafter, she enrolled at the Columbia School of Nursing in Milwaukee, from which she graduated in 1943. She enlisted in the Army Nurse Corps and served at stateside hospitals throughout the war, including the Marine Hospital in Cleveland and Percy Jones General Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan. Lovell also served during the Korean War era, receiving her honorable discharge in January 1956.

Following her separation from the military, she attended and received a degree from Marquette University. She worked as an occupational therapist for NASA for seventeen years, retiring in 1972. Lovell married Dallas E. Weatherford, a World War II and Korean War veteran himself, in 1960. She was an active member and past president of the Lane-Kreiling American Legion Post in Phillips.

She passed away in Park Falls, Wisconsin on February 6, 1993.
