More on the Need for a Larger Membership in Canada
: There has been talk of merger with the Ladies' Garment Workers, but that union's reputation is not very good in Canada either. The only way to get to the 70,000-100,000 membership level required for an efficient Canadian operation is to engage in another merger. The only other option would be a dues increase; and that would not sit well with the membership.
