Estelle Hayden was the daughter of T. C. Hayden, a pioneer resident of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. She taught at Milwaukee Normal School and Whitewater State College. At Sun Prairie, in later years, she served on the school board, worked for the construction of a modern high school, and wrote a number of articles for Wisconsin publications on the history of Sun Prairie.
