Part 1 (2007/040): Original Collection, 1990-1998 2.4 cubic feet (2 records center cartons and 2 archives boxes) and 1 tape recording : Minutes, correspondence, data, reports and surveys, and other records of a commission established by Governor Tommy Thompson in 1996 to study the correctional situation in Wisconsin; its final report, which supported implementation of intensive sanctions within a community corrections setting, was submitted in 1997. The committee was chaired by Walter Dickey of the University of Wisconsin. Other participants included Secretary of the Department of Corrections Michael Sullivan, Judge Patrick Fiedler, and numerous departmental staff. Exchanges with corrections expert George Mitchell are particularly extensive. Part 2 (2009/048): Additions, 1996-1998 1.0 cubic foot (1 records center carton) and 1 audio recording : Task force material, 1996-1998, related to the use of prison inmate labor for private industries and the privatization of prison labor. The bulk of the accession is related to Fabry Glove and Mitten Company which opened a production facility within the Green Bay Correctional Institute, hired prisoners at low wages and laid off 40% of its non-prisoner labor force. There is state audit material, correspondence, testimony, and an audio tape of John Fabry's comments about the issue. The tape recording in this accession has been assigned 1753A/1.

Part 3 (2013/075): Additions, 1987-2002 6.6 cubic feet (6 records center cartons and 2 archives boxes) : Records, 1987-2002, from the Department of Corrections (DOC) Secretary's office include agency memos, workplans, and records regarding the management of correctional facilities for adults and juveniles. Materials regarding specific studies for corrections issues such as relocation, restructuring, staffing issues, medical treatment of inmates, investigations of misconduct by facility staff and/or inmate problems are also included. Other records include material regarding two court cases: one case dealt with prison/inmate conditions at the supermax correctional institution in Boscobel, Wisconsin, and the other case concerns the death of an inmate at the Taycheedah Correctional Institution.
