This series contains original tax roll volumes, 1848-1870 and every tenth year thereafter through 1940 plus 1955 and 1960; and microfilm which includes both tax rolls and tax sales records, 1945-1983.
The microfilm portion was filmed by Waukesha County. The majority of the reels are either first or second generation negative film, with a few reels of diazo positive film. The archives retained the numbering system used by the county, thus the microfilm begins with reel number 13: the location of reels 1-12 and 18 is unknown. Tax rolls are arranged chronologically, thereunder by towns, villages, and cities and within those categories alphabetically by civil division. Tax sales are found immediately after the tax roll through 1979. Beginning in 1980 the tax sales were filmed as a group. Only the microfilm reels are listed in the contents list below. An appendix at the end of this finding aid summarizes the volumes included in these records.
