Scope and Content Note

Records of various school districts in Washburn County. The types of records for each school district vary but typically consist of District Record Books, Treasurer's Accounts, and Registers.

District Record Books generally include minutes of annual, regular, and special school board meetings, receipts and disbursements, teacher contracts, and other financial information. Treasurer's Account books record receipts and disbursements and reports of treasurers at annual meetings. Registers are usually titled “Attendance Registers” or "Teacher's Registers" or "School Registers" and contains the teacher's name, student names and ages, attendance, grades, and sometimes parents' names. Often included is a list of the daily course of study, books used, visitors to the school, and comments about the school conditions.
