Part 4 (M98-185): Additions, 1955-1972
Physical Description: 0.8 cubic feet (1 archives box and 17 oversize folders including 154 drawings)
Scope and Content Note

Additions, 1955-1972, has two sources: a group found in the stacks, and a group donated in 1998 by William Batchelder. The material found in the stacks consists only of large drawings and reproductions (with the exception of one folder of stage designs for “Hamlet”), and dates from 1955 to 1964. The material in the Batchelder donation includes both large drawings and reproductions and manuscript material, and dates from 1964 to 1972, except for the 1961 material relating to the Ballets USA.

The drawings and photostats consist of general stage plans, set and prop designs for productions for which Jean Rosenthal was the lighting designer, her own light plots for those productions, and proposals for stage designs for which she was a consultant. The other papers are notes, correspondence (between Rosenthal and Batchelder), lighting cue sheets, hookup charts, and equipment lists for productions for which Rosenthal was the lighting designer. The touring productions of Cabaret and Fiddler on the Roof, 1966-1972, are particularly well represented.

Arrangement of the Materials: Arranged by size, then chronologically by production (with the exception of the touring productions which are grouped together irrespective of date).
