Nick Vanoff Papers, 1958-1970

Scope and Content Note

The Nick Vanoff Papers, 1958-1970, consist primarily of annotated scripts, production material, set designs, and photographs for television shows he produced. These include Hollywood Palace (1963-1970), The King Family (1961-1966), Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall (1960-1963), and other series and specials. Production material is generally very complete and includes budgets, call sheets, cast lists, rehearsal and shooting schedules, time sheets, and timing breakdowns. The papers have been arranged alphabetically by production title, and thereunder chronologically by air date.

The bulk of the collection relates to Hollywood Palace. In addition to very detailed production information, there are scripts (often including the annotated technical draft), clippings, photographs (unless otherwise indicated in the contents list below), and set designs. The set designs for Hollywood Palace and for the pilot for The King Family (Aug. 29, 1961) have been arranged separately by production, and thereunder by production number at the end of the collection.

There are bound volumes of scripts and production information for The Dave King Show (1959), the pilot for Hullabaloo (June 27, 1960), The King Family (1961-1966), The Milton Berle Show (1966-1967), Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall (1960-1963), and other series and specials. Vanoff annotated these volumes, commenting on individual productions and their relation to his career as a whole. The volumes from Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall are also available on microfilm.
